Documenting the graphic anomalies in the Tabula Peutingeriana, using emendations to show why each is unexpected, and exploring what such flaws may tell us about the chart's late antique history. A companion to the Animated Edition.
9,2:1 Phaselis
The lack of this line through the Lycaonia part of the TP seems to a simple case of aplasia in Vienna manuscript, perhaps deriving from space problems. Space was too tight for the copyist to fit the line in. See
TPPlace2394 and Miller 708. The region has been well studied in connection with the Stele of Patara, and the existence of a main road from Phaselis to Sidi seems to be settled.
