Miller 370, 372 makes the case that Herculis Rani, which has never been archaeologically located, denotes a place which is not in fact on the road marked. See also Emendation 5,5:1 Bobiano which restores an upwardly curved line clear through the part of the page where Herculis Rani is now placed.
Miller's emendation diagram (above) cannot be accepted in its entirety, but does suggest how Herculis Rani could have been shifted: the two positions, on lines that slope slightly downwards to the right, are confusible. Talbert 1445 notes the emendation, but makes no comment on whether it is sound or unsound.
