The diversion of this linework to merge at Brigantione (Briancon) is dictated by the impossibility of climbing to the pass at In Alpe Cottia (Montgenèvre) by any other ascent than the main cross-Alpine track. Miller 228, 102; Talbert 825. The yellow line at left disappears as part of the related emendation in connection with Vapincum.
