4,4:1 Mevania

The linework to Mevania (Bevagna, just south of Assisi, see DARE) is badly jumbled. Miller 304 and 301 treat the problem. It is greatly to Miller's credit that he was able to demonstrate a geographically accurate emendation (above) which also respects the overall ductus of the Tabula.

Animation is especially well suited to showing such changes. It takes quite some time to figure out with Miller's sketch and a facsimile of the TP what had to be changed.

I have drawn Mevania as a cul-de-sac, since there is no firm evidence that the TP would have shown it with an onward connection to the left. Talbert 1171 comments that leaving Spoletio as a dead end on the manuscript was especially strange.
